Fungai is a current Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University and a Nieman-Berkman Fellow for Journalism innovation. His work focuses on documenting the inspiring stories of strength, courage, hope and enterprise that are often overlooked around Africa.

He is the founding editor of Zimbabwe’s leading lifestyle, arts and culture website, Zimbo Jam (www.zimbojam.com) and has developed or consulted for numerous news sites including www.herzimbabwe.co.zw, www.digitalstadium.co.zw and www.hivos.org.

His work with digital storytelling and related issues has seen him present at various international panels, including the Northeast Media Literacy Conference, Connecticut, USA (2013), Internet Governance Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan (2012), Highway Africa, South Africa (2012) and at the United Nations, Geneva (2011). As both a website and content developer he is keenly interested in the intersection of journalism, technology, civic activism and the power of the citizen.
